FZ08

SUPER-FAST, SUPER-EFFECTIVE CHIRON FZ08 VERTICAL MACHINING CENTRE

FZ08 With super-fast tool changing and positioning times, and high spindle speeds, the Chiron FZ08 vertical machining centre available from Chiron Werke UK Ltd offers unrivalled cycle times and the lowest piece part costs for any machine in its class. Tool change is carried out in 0.5 sec and chip-to-chip time is just 1.5 sec, while spindle speed is up to 27,000 revs/min (optional) and axis traverse rates are 60 m/min in Z and 40 m/min in X and Y. Such performance characteristics on a machine with X, Y and Z axes travels of 300 mm x 250 mm x 250 mm often equate to average production increases of 78 per cent and cost per part savings of 38 per cent!

Coupled with a small footprint of 1 m by 2.4 m, increased tool capacity and the provision of through-spindle coolant, the FZ08 range is a compact, highly efficient VMC that has wide appeal for the production of smaller workpieces in both a sub-contract and volume production environment.

FZ08 workpiece area

Of travelling column design, the Chiron FZ08 is available in two versions - model FZ08S with fixed table and model FZ08W with workpiece changer - and, as standard, is supplied with a 3.7 kW spindle motor for spindle speeds from 20 to 10,500 revs/min with options of 15,000 and 27,000 revs/min.

The 12-tool magazine provides tooling for drilling up to 16 mm diameter, tapping to M12, rigid tapping at up to 6,000 revs/min and milling to 200 mm3/min.

Manufactured in Germany to Chiron's established quality hallmarks, the FZ08 range is continually being improved with increased spindle motors (7.5 kW) for spindle speed options of 15,000 revs/min and 27,000 revs/min, extended tool magazine to 20- and 24- tool capacity, availability of 150 bar through-tool coolant for deep hole drilling and reaming. Other options available include automatic tool monitoring and management with Chiron's laser control and spindle-mounted probe for automatic fixture and part location. One- and two-axis rotary tables are also available.
